A Great Morning Routine To Improve Health And Wellness

Reading Time: 4 minutes

A great morning can make your entire day productive. There is even a saying that the early bird catches the worm. While this saying has a lot of interpretations, it could also mean that those who wake up earlier are more successful than others. So how do you start a great morning routine to improve health and wellness? Here’s a routine you can follow to jumpstart your day.

Wake Up On Time

One of the most essential things to do in starting your day is waking up on time. Waking up late sucks and can ruin your day, right? To ensure you wake up on time, you must have good quality and enough sleep. Moreover, a good night’s sleep can affect your productivity the next day.

Take A Long And Deep Breath

What is the first thing people usually do when they open their eyes in the morning? Many people would check their phones. For a great and positive morning, it is recommended that you take a long and deep breath first for your body’s relaxation. Five to 20 minutes of taking deep breaths also help your body’s movement and posture. There are different breathing techniques you can choose from, and deep breathing is one of them.

Arrange Your Bed

Making your bed in the morning gives you a sense of responsibility and productivity. Starting your day productively by doing this task can motivate you into other tasks throughout the day. Aside from that, it keeps your bed tidy and promotes better sleep hygiene.

Rehydrate

Six to eight hours of the sleeping means six to eight hours without water consumption. That’s quite a long time for our bodies. Ever notice why sometimes, we find ourselves waking up feeling thirsty? This is because we are getting dehydrated in our sleep because of our breathing and, for some, sweating.

There are a lot of benefits when you drink water first before coffee when you wake up. It rehydrates and metabolizes our bodies. It also helps boost our brain and fight sickness.

Do Some Exercises

Have you got no time to squeeze in some workouts in your day? That’s fine! Just allot 20 to 40 minutes in the morning to go to the gym or simply to walk for better health and wellness. If you still have no time for a morning exercise, a 7-minute stretching and exercise will do. A full body stretch in the morning will get your blood flowing and can energize you. And it feels good and relaxing, too.

Nutritious And Delicious Breakfast

Many people who are in a hurry every morning tend to skip breakfast. Skipping breakfast won’t give you the energy you need for your day and will slow down your metabolism. Because we need to have good energy levels for the day, a healthy and delicious breakfast is also necessary for the morning.

A protein-rich breakfast will energize you, and won’t make you hungry for long. It will also increase your mental clarity, which means you have a clearer and more focused perception of things. An example of a healthy breakfast meal is a plate of lean protein, fruits, whole grains, and yogurt.

If you’re exercising in the morning, you have to eat something before working out. You can eat a banana, apple, or nuts to fuel your body for your exercise.

You don’t have to spend a lot just to eat healthily. There are ways you can eat healthy while on a budget.

Do Your Self-Care Routine

Self-care routine encourages work-life balance, not everything has to be about work or chores. Self-care soothes your mind and body. And by doing so, decreases the risk of going through burnout.

Self-care could be anything that you do that you enjoy that promotes health and wellness. It could be about personal hygiene like skincare or taking a shower, or a hobby like reading books.

Journal Writing

Spending some minutes to write in your journal is a good way to connect with yourself and slow down amidst your busy day. Writing down allows you to reflect, brainstorm, and be mindful of your thoughts. You can also write down your intentions and affirmations about yourself to inspire you to a positive viewpoint for the day.

Other than journal writing, you can also take this time to jot down some self-reminders for the day. This will help you with the tasks you need to accomplish at home or work, especially if you tend to be forgetful.

Listen To Music

Another way to boost relaxation and positivity in the morning is by listening to music. Listening to music can lift your mood and take your stress away. Whenever you listen to a song or a sound we deem beautiful, your body releases chemicals that may uplift your mood. Moreover, playing an upbeat playlist can make you feel less groggy.

Practice Gratitude

Starting your day with a positive outlook can make a difference. Stress and negativities will drag you down and can ruin your day. Studies have shown that practicing gratefulness can reduce the feeling of aggression and pain. Therefore, it’ll be beneficial for you to take a pause and think of the things to be thankful for. You can also write these things down while you’re writing in your journal.

Final Thoughts

How you spend your morning can reflect your actions the whole day. Following this great morning routine will not only promote better health and wellness but will also make you feel good and productive.
