Polarity Therapy is a holistic healing technique intended to restore a balanced distribution of the body’s energy by combining touch, exercise, nutrition and self-awareness. Polarity therapy is based on the idea that there are three types of energy fields in the body: Long-line currents that run north to south in the body, Transverse currents that run east-west in the body and Spiral currents that start at the navel and expand outward. It is thought that disease occurs when this energy field is disrupted, and so stimulating natural energy flow can identify energy blockages or disconnects. During a polarity therapy session, the therapist brings the client into deep relaxation, using Indian Ayurvedic massage & Chinese acupressure techniques. The therapist examines the body blockages e.g. pain, discomfort, muscle spasms, and muscle tension, especially in the shoulders and back. Once blockages are identified, the therapist uses a variety of techniques to clear the paths of energy fields, and guide energy back to its natural pathways or meridians. Practices like deep breathing, yoga, and hydrotherapy are sometimes incorporated into polarity therapy. Polarity Therapy addresses issues such as sciatica & back pain; neck restriction and neck pain; facial problems e.g. facial paralysis & bells palsy; coccyx pain/ injuries; repetitive strain injury; digestive issues e.g. abdominal discomfort, indigestion, colic; bowel problems e.g. diarrhea, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), diverticulitis; fibromyalgia; menstrual and hormonal imbalances/irregularities; pelvic misalignment; gynecological problems e.g. infertility, menopausal symptoms, ovarian/uterine problems; stress, anxiety and depression. Polarity therapy is beneficial to help shift negative emotional, mental & physical patterns that inhibit well-being.
