Dr. Denise Pickett-Bernard PhD, RDN, LDN, IFMCP, is a registered and licensed dietitian (FL, GA). She has worked as An Assistant Dean of Nutrition, a chef, culinary instructor at Johnson & Wales, an adjunct nutrition faculty at a number of universities. Presently she is an Adjunct Associate Professor and Functional Nutrition Liaison at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Dee has developed courses and curricula at the university level. In particular, her expertise in culinary nutritional medicine is sought after for her unique view toward including herbs and spices in food-as-medicine protocols.
Dr. Dee holds a degree from the Culinary Institute of America, a BS in Food Service Management, and an MS in Food Science and Nutrition and graduate certificate in dietetics from the University of Rhode Island and Brown University's teaching hospitals. She earned a PhD from Barry University studying spiritual factors which affect weight control maintenance. Dr. Dee is currently a private practitioner in Roswell, GA providing functional nutrition therapy and public presentations.
Dr. Dee focuses on integrative and functional nutrition employing a holistic and client centered philosophy. She believes that the restoration of optimal health and wellness is possible by making alterations in food intake and lifestyle. She encourages vitalistic thinking and seeks to help clients remove environmental challenges and create a milieu in their bodies in which healing can take place. In addition to functional nutrition, she has extensive experience in pediatric (teen and child) sports nutrition, maternal and child nutrition, general weight- loss, as well as culinary arts.
Dr. Dee stays up-to-date on all functional medicine innovations as an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner. she is one of two RDs in GA who have completed this certification. She also completed an advanced training certificate program from the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy where she served as the culinary collaborative director for 3 years. She is presently on faculty teaching the Advanced Culinary Nutrition module.
She strives to stay current with the most innovative and scientifically up to date techniques for health restoration, healing and optimization. She believes that there can be organic, psychological and spiritual impediments to vibrancy and seeks to discover the root cause of a client's complaints while providing a variety of healing modalities.

Dr. Dee is also a Reiki Master who believes that there is a powerful connection between our mind, our body and our spirit. Reiki is a gentle and non-denominational Japanese technique for channeling universal healing energy. She meditates daily.
