Nourish+Balance Health was born out of the many years of beating myself up for not looking like the girls in the magazines, experimenting with all the fad diets available, over-obsessing, restricting, and over-exercising. I became burned out with diet culture. The turning point was a few years after the birth of my second daughter. I vowed to take back control of my body and treat it with the love and respect it deserves. My personal experience with various unhealthy ways of eating and thinking about food lead me to adopt an integrative, healthy lifestyle that has helped me significantly.
As a life-long lover of physical activity and dance, I wanted to do something fun for myself and became a certified yoga instructor (YTT200) in 2016, that was the spark I needed to pursue my career in wellness. I finished my BA in Psychology in 2018 after taking a few years off and felt a strong pull after doing most of my undergrad research on eating disorders to dive into the nutrition side. I pursued my health coach certification in 2018 through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and loved it!
Today, I've given up stressing over how my body looks. I measure my health by how I feel, how I am thinking and how much energy I have. I know the key to health is losing the stress, fueling my body with nutrient-dense foods, exercising in a healthy way that supports my lifestyle, and actually having FUN!
I like to keep things simple and natural. NO fad diets, NO counting of any kind, and NO obsessing over the scale. My goal with Nourish+Balance Health is to guide women into a healthy lifestyle that works for them. It makes me so sad to watch women struggle with body image and self-loathing. It's super frustrating to witness everyone trying to decipher the overwhelming amount of conflicting information floating around the internet and in magazines. I want to teach women about the importance of quality food and to share/breakdown what I've learned over the years. I aim to reduce confusion about what it means to be healthy. Everyone has a different definition of health and I hope to help you discover yours.
