Cardio kickboxing is a type of kickboxing that combines martial arts techniques with fast-paced cardio, usually accompanied with high-tempo music. It is a non-contact workout; punches and kicks are thrown into the air or onto pads. Cardio kickboxing is a full-body workout that engages both the lower and upper body with a strong focus on your core. Several moves are used, including punches such as jabs, crosses, hooks, uppercuts, and lower body moves such as knee strikes, front kicks, roundhouse kicks, side-kicks, and back kicks. Common exercises are jump rope, jumping jacks, football shuffles, running in place, and core specific exercises such as crunches and planking. Depending on the class, boxing pads or gloves may be used for protection. The classes are usually led by an instructor, lasting between 30 minutes to 1 hour, and take place in gyms and fitness studios. The classes don't include sparring with a partner. Cardio kickboxing helps to build stamina, improve coordination and flexibility, increase speed, burn calories, build lean muscle, relieve stress & frustration, and boost mood.
