We spend most of our time “inside of our heads” moving from past moments to future ones without even stopping in the present moment. We spend time thinking about the past: ruminating, or in the future worrying: concerned with what is going to happen. We intrinsically have the knowledge that we can’t change the past, because “it is gone”, but insistently we spend a great amount of time there. Other times our thoughts go to the future and worries and concerns arise. Even though knowing that the future is a mystery, we consistently try to control it.
