I'm a former plastic surgeon, professional ballerina, and a life-long health nut who loves the challenge of working with busy women who are merely surviving on caffeine and willpower.
You may already know the struggle and confusion that comes with walking your own wellness path alone. I know it all too well, personally and professionally.
Professionally, my clients are often surprised to discover that I was a ballet dancer for 17 years; they're curious about my transition to "doctoring" as well. Simply, I knew I wanted to be a physician from the age of six, but the opportunity to travel the world was irresistible.
When that career began to wind down, I refocused on my first love - medicine. Once admitted to Columbia University, I found that the discipline garnered from dancing made those rigorous academics almost pale in comparison.
Personally, though, health was a huge challenge. Coming from a family predisposed to medical weakness, I lost both my parents when they were 71, due to emphysema and a pulmonary embolism they experienced within five months of each other. Years later, I watched my younger sister struggle with autoimmune issues, and I vowed that I wouldn’t fail her as I felt I’d failed to help my parents. Even in my own life, I went from being a dancer with unhealthy eating habits to an overweight professional, experiencing two pulmonary emboli myself-including one that almost killed me.
It’s strange because professionally, during this time of unraveling family medical issues, I had a successful career as an award-winning plastic surgeon. I loved the work I did and the joy it brought to my patients, like those who needed reconstruction after breast cancer. But eventually, I grew frustrated with only being able to affect the external side of a patient’s life and not having the resources or role to help them transform their lives and health completely.
Looking and hoping for more for myself, my family, and my career led me to personalized wellness medicine. Working with a holistic practitioner myselfshowed me that there were better solutions for my health than I had previously been taught. I began building an expertise in that world and saw how traditional medicine can be so much more powerful when paired with holistic perspectives. And by employing what I learned and personalizing my own care, I got better. And then I helped my sister get better. And ultimately, I began to see the greater, more personal impact I could have. So in 2018, I left my medical practice and founded Premiere Wellness.
It was the best step I could have taken because now, my work is wholly heart-centered. Every day, through coaching, my team, and other customized solutions, I get to be completely focused on you–not just finding ways for you to just look better, but to live the long, healthy life you want and deserve.
