Earlier this year, companies across the world sent their employees home to work in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to a study from Gartner HR, 88% of companies encouraged or required their employees to work from home at some point during the last three months. Though this decision was made out of necessity, for many companies, this change in work environment proved to be a helpful long-term decision. World-wide companies such as Twitter have announced that employees will not only be allowed to work remotely until the virus is under control, but will have that option indefinitely. As social distancing guidelines begin to roll back and more employees settle into their home offices, it is helpful to highlight the benefits of remote work.
Though remote work can present unique challenges that don’t exist in a traditional work setting, the ability to create flexible schedules and spend less time commuting is worth it. These benefits not only boost productivity and job satisfaction, they can reduce stress and anxiety and contribute to overall better mental health. LiveCareer highlights some of these perks in this visual so that remote employees can recognize and maximize the benefits of this working style.
